Week 94
Quite another chill week in Busan leading up to Christmas. Had a major break through with my job search for next year that I was really happy with. Planning to sign the contract next week, the school seems really nice. It has a lot of positives compared to my current school which I’m really excited about. Also, it will mean I’ll be moving to Jangsan closer to Linda living in a nicer place. The school is in the Shinseagae Mall at the top, I had an interview on Thursday and afterwards I went down a few floors a bought some new running trainers from a store. Could be dangerous in the future.
On Saturday I had a 17 mile workout in the morning which went really well. The run had 3x 3 miles at 6:20-6:25 per mile pace, before my last marathon just over 2 months ago I would have really struggled to get near this pace for 3 consecutive miles. On Saturday it felt pretty steady to hit those paces without dying, I was proud and super excited afterwards that I’m progressing. Still around 3 months until the 23rd of February…my next race.
Me and Linda met up at midday and grabbed a quick coffee nearby and then had lunch. We headed off to Haeundae on the train, then we walked along the boardwalk around the coast to Seongjeong which is about 5kms. We wrapped up a lot and in the sun we were nice and warm. Koreans love their sky bridges near the coast, we went on one 2 weeks ago on the coastal walk and went on two on this walk to Seongjeong. There was a newer one which was quite cool the whole floor was glass for a large portion of it, Linda edged along the side very slowly.
The reason why we were going to Seongjeong was to have dinner at a hot-stone jjajang restaurant. Food will always make its way into the blog somehow and this week it was around making a day out of going to this restaurant. Hot-stone jjajang was a meal we had in Jeju and we both loved it, Linda saw this on Instagram so we had to go and try it out. It didn’t disappoint we really enjoyed it!
Afterwards we went to a café and drank some hot chocolates with cakes.
Yesterday night we watched the second film in Bourne series the one with Pamela Anderson. I had to replay the ending a couple of times when Bourne calls Pam while looking into her office and ends it by saying “Get some rest Pam. You look tired.” Then the iconic music starts, I loved it!
Had my cold swim today, last week was the first time it felt icy cold however this week was the first time my body went into a bit of shock for a minute. The first minute your body is like ‘what the hell is going on?’ and I had to really focus on my breathing. Then the next 2 minutes you start to get used to it but your still focusing on your breath and not really relaxing yet. But once I reach 5 minutes my body has adjusted to the temperature at that point then I just relax by swimming around a bit. The next 5 minutes are comfortable I’m not thinking about the cold at all instead I’m just enjoying the water and the beautiful sun.
Now it’s the afternoon, I’m writing this in front of the TV once I’m done I think I’ll go get a drink and continue putting my feet up for the rest of the day!
