Week 38
Getting much colder now that we are deeper into the winter season, last week was strangely warm but now it is quickly getting into coat and glove wearing weather. It makes it much better going for runs though, as you’re not drenched in sweat and dehydrating after 20 minutes of running. I don’t actually mind running in the max summer heat here because I use it as a challenge and I also know it is an excellent time to really push your fitness, because of how much extra your body needs to work in hot conditions. The only part I don’t like is when you get back to the flat and your body continues to sweat like crazy, literally dripping onto the floor. Compared to now, I get back and I’m still relatively cold compared to the summer. Additionally, the other great thing about this Korean winter season is the majority of the days are blue sky’s, bright sunlight and cold crisp air which just make everyday really lovely to get out in.
This Saturday me and Linda were going for a pottery date, to either decorate or make some clay pots or plates. We got the subway only three stations away, so not far, and walked around to find some lunch, we ended up eating at a sushi restaurant. Since I discovered that I love sushi in Osaka with Ryan I haven’t ate it much of it, so I was happy to eat plenty for lunch on Saturday, it also feels very healthy. We walked through the town and a memorial park which was for the UN soldiers who died in the Korean War. It was nice to stroll through a part of Busan I haven’t been to before, especially with it being another beautiful winter’s day. We arrived at the pottery studio with time to spare, so we got a quick coffee nearby outside, before heading back. We got to the front door and we needed a code to get inside, so Linda got the ticket up on her phone to find it only to say, “Is this today?” I looked down and saw the date ‘2023.11.18’ instantly I let out a howl of “That’s next week Linda!!!”
On the Sunday, I had my first football game for the Celtic Tigers in a couple of months, it ended up being an absolutely amazing game football which ended in a 2-1 victory to the Tigers. We were losing by one from the end of the first quarter to 10 minutes to go in the 4th quarter, where we equalised and then scored again soon after to take the lead. Truly was one of the best games I’ve played in, the whole team were ecstatic at the end of the game and showed what sports is all about. This game was part of a league, we’ve recently created along with three other teams. So instead of the usual friendlies, we have some meaningful games coming up, with something to play for which is exciting. I don’t know how much football I’ll be able to play once I’m training for my sub 3 hour marathon, so I’m enjoying the next month or so.
Pictures are last weeks hearty ‘Ramen Monday’ stew meal which was delicious. The next, me and Linda's coffee on our lovely non-date day out, as you can see I was really excited for the clay making.
